A kitchen mentor, a friend that is happy to enter your kitchen, to share knowledge, help you find your kitchen, determine the best way to use your kitchen to prepare meals, special or not. Also, to help you find the skills to feel confidant with a friend in the kitchen to continue your adventure in the kitchen. You may not like your kitchen, you may not like to cook, or bake, but want to make changes to lower food cost or increase time at home or lower food waste, I will be there to cheer you on, support you in the fails that do happen and find a way through them and find the learned lesson in the failure. We gain so many skills by failing in the kitchen, that transfer to other areas of our lives, we start to trust ourselves just a bit more each time.
For some of us a kitchen mentor was our mom, or dad, grandma, a neighbor, but some don’t have that person. I want to be that person for you. I will come along side you and share your victories, you tell me what you want to prepare, I will coach you in your selection, and we will find the way to do it in your kitchen.
You may have a child who wants to learn how to use the kitchen, or you want them to have some skills without fear of using the kitchen. We will teach them the appropriate ways to use the oven, stove, microwave, knife safety, food safety (such as hand washing or temperatures). Teaching children these skills opens the door for their problem solving skills elsewhere… Just like adults.
And just like with children, you may have a parent who used to cook and love it, but now you are worried about their safety in the home because of the use of the kitchen alone could be unsafe. I would love to come and support this person and be there while they prepare meals for themselves for the rest of the week, but provide security that they are safe while they do it, including those food safety skill that are critical for this age group, keeping them healthy.
Please contact me with any questions and concerns and lets discuss what your goals are for yourself or your loved one. I look forward to hearing about your challenges and facing them with you.
